In this task, Rebecca and I expanded on our treatment ideas together, putting them into catagories of idea, costume, characters, props location, costume, camera shots and effects (all things were considered) so that we can show our target audience and gain feedback on it

Research into chosen artist- mood board

What have I created and what is the use of it?
I have created a mood board of all things involving/ associated with Zara Larsson, this was useful as it helped me gain an understanding of what type or artist she is

Why I chose the sections
Competitors- I chose to put so many competitors on there because by looking into their style and type of music you can gain an understanding of her 'rivals' and how they look in comparison to Larsson
Singles- you can see her single/album covers and this reveals a lot about her and her style of music through the colours and design
Associated acts- to see the other types of artists Larsson associates herself with and how they may influence her music/compare to her competitors

Competitors

What have I created?
I have created a world of Zara Larssons competitors

How is this useful?
This was useful as it shows me a variety of other artists who create similar music we can look into/ helps us know how to stand out from the rest of the competitors music promotional package, by conducting more research into them

Zara Larsson- chosen artist research

I researched into an artist who could be potentially the person whose music we may use  to create a music video on, I could then share this with Rebecca (my colleague in creating the music video) and we could see if her music is the type of music we would like to make a music video on (as 'pontoon' isn't letting me embed the presentation, I have uploaded screen shots for each slide

Final music video song choice

Using Survey Monkey, we conducted a survey just confirming that our target audience would be watch a music video for this song and this was our results:

Looking at the results of our survey, the common trend is that teenagers liked Alessia Cara

This also confirmed our like for her songs, although we did expect a stronger correlation between the songs, I still believe that this is due to the fact that they have been featured in the charts.

Our results may have been swayed by the fact that 'scars to your beautiful' and 'WILD'  have appeared on the charts and briefly played on the radio

Based on the above and the results of this target audience research, the final song we have chosen is: Alessia Cara- 'Scars to your beautiful'

song ideas mind map

Our task:
To find 5 song choices each so that we can present them to each other and discuss

MP3 discussing our 5 song choices and presenting them to each other:

Songs for music videos- discussion of initial ideas

Rebecca and I asked each other to expand on 3 of our favourite music videos, by trying to come up with some useful ideas.

I looked into the songs lyrics and thought of ideas using: props, costume, ideas, colours, special effects and settings and these were the ideas.

Of the 10 we discussed, we chose 2 the same ('Scars to Your Beautiful' by Alessia Cara & 'WILD' by Troye Sivan ft.Alessia Cara) and one different (I chose 'Rock Bottom' by Hailee Steinfeld).

Here's the MP3 to our meeting:

Meeting regarding future plans

What was the point of this task?
We screen recorded our meeting so that we had  record of what we are supposed to do, this was really useful as it help us organise ourselves so that we knew exactly what the other person was doing and this enabled us a better idea of the type of artist we were interested in so that we could move onto the next task

Timeline of research, planning, production & feedback

This is my timetable that will help me stay on track in the research, planning and feedback in the creation of my music video

Why was this task useful:
It helps me stay on track so that I don't fall behind and ensures I have more than enough time to complete my production and ancillary tasks

advert, website and digipak analysis

What was this task?
This task was to analyse a website, album advert and digipak

Why was this task useful?
This task was useful as it meant that I could see how all the conventions (i learnt in the last task) are applied to the product, it was interesting to see how each product look very different yet carry all the necessary conventions that each product should have, this task was also helpful as you can see hoe different genres are represented in each product by looking at the things like the colour scheme and dress.

Digipak time lapse

What was this task?

What have I learnt about digipaks?

  • The size a digipak should be (12x12)
  • What content goes where in a digipak
  • the layout
  • How a digipak is folded
To improve-

Towards the end of filming I had realised that the bottom half of the digipak would have to be turned upside down so I no know the correct way to draw out the digipak so that when folded, everything is the correct way around.
