Mood video

Using finalcut pro, I have created this mood video by exporting interesting music videos from the genre 'pop' (using the MP4 player) to final cut pro.



The music videos I used were:

• Britney spears- Criminal
• The Chainsmokers- Closer
• Jonas Blue- Perfect strangers
• Zayn Malik- Pillow talk
• Charlie Puth- We don't speak anymore
• Andra- Love you can save it all
• The Chainsmokers- Don't let me down ft. Day
• Shawn Mendes- Treat you better
• Jonas Blue- Perfect strangers ft. JP Cooper
• Meghan Trainer- Me Too
• Sam Smith- Stay With Me
• Britney Spears, Iggy Azalea- Pretty girls
• Iggy Azalea- Fancy ft. Charli XCX

In the making of this mood video, I researched on loads of music videos, looking for interesting shots, camera movements, graphics, cuts, transitions, dress and other relatable genre conventions daily focusing on things I thought was interesting e.g. the graphics from Zayn Maliks pillow talk.

What I learnt:

This research task was really helpful in helping me identify things I'd like to include in my music video, it has taught me that there are multiple effects I could include in my music video, to change the pace/make it look more interesting

This task was to analyse genre conventions using real media texts

How is this helpful
this task is helpful as it has helped me identify certain genre conventions of music video, artists within them conventions and what type of characterists that genre shows. This will be useful when creating my own music video as I now know how to analyse both large and general genres such as 'pop', and more niche ones, such as 'pop rock'

Welcome to my year 13 media blog


In this blog, you will find all the research and planning I have conducted in order to create a music video and digipak to go along side it.


In this blog, I will record all my personal research into music videos, from analysing them to learning there codes and conventions so that I have the confidence/ability to create one myself.


I am really looking forward to this upcoming year as this task gives me a chance to be creative and develop on my personal knowledge on music videos and the process that they go through in order to be made. I hope to improve my skills working in a team and develop on my post-production skills, through the use of editing programmes like final cut pro and learn how to make interesting effects using both the camera and editing.
